Regular practice and study is essential to honing your skills as a singer and artist. I’m happy to offer the following special rates to new students interested in regular study:

$240 monthly tuition: 4 one hour sessions, taken weekly
$130 monthly tuition: 2 one hour sessions, taken bi-weekly

Students of all ages and experience levels are welcome. The following contract rates apply for children 12yrs of age or younger:

$160 monthly tuition: 4 45min sessions, taken weekly
$90 monthly tuition: 2 45min sessions, taken bi-weekly

$120 monthly tuition: 4 30min sessions, taken weekly
$70 monthly tuition: 2 30min sessions, taken bi-weekly

Two upcoming performances

The Metropolitan Master Chorale performs Sunday, April 1st, 5pm at the historic Los Angeles Theatre Center in Downtown LA. Join us for a performance of sacred works including Requiem Mass in D minor (W.A. Mozart), Asking for Kaddish (Ross Wright), and Convergence: a Jazz Vespers (Shelton Berg). I will be featured as the Alto Soloist in the Mozart’s Requiem, conducted by Michael Arshagouni. Special preview performance Sunday, March 25, 2pm at Los Angeles Valley College.

Westwood Voices, a premiere acapella chamber chorus, performs Friday, April 13, 8pm at Westwood Hills Christian Church. Come enjoy a unique concert of sacred and secular choral music from the Renaissance to the present. Featuring selections from Josquin Desprez, Henry Purcell, Morten Lauridsen, and Nathanael Pangrazio, our artistic director. The concert will be held in the church’s subterranean parking garage, chosen for its unique acoustics and intimate setting. I will be performing with the chamber chorus and as a featured soloist. Suggested Donation $10, Free Parking.

The following packages are available for the 2011 Holiday Season:

Four one-hour lessons for $240
Four 45 minute lessons for $200
Four 30 minute lessons for $160

Gift lesson packages must be purchased in full before January 1^st 2012 to receive this promotional rate. Scheduling can be arranged during or after the holiday months.

Payments for gift lesson packages are accepted securely via PayPal. Upon successful payment, Sarah will email you at your PayPal address to gather more information, including who the package is for, and scheduling options.

Special Holiday Rates for Voice Lessons

I am offering two promotions to new voice students during the upcoming holiday season. Please feel free to spread the word by forwarding this offer to friends, family, and colleagues.

Holiday Promotion: Any lessons scheduled between Mon, Nov 22^th and Fri, Dec 17^th are being offered to new students at a special rate of $45/hr (Regularly $60/hr lesson).

New Year’s Contract Rate: Any first 4-lesson contract opened within the month of January is being offered at a special rate of $180. (Regularly $200 per 4-lesson contract). Contracts are a commitment to 4 1-hour lessons, completed within 4 consecutive weeks. Bi-weekly or single lessons are $60/hr.

Improv 101

Just over seven years ago I took my first class at ImprovBoston. My tenure with IB soon grew to include performing with their Harold Teams, Mainstage, and Family Show, teaching youth and adult improv classes, and co-producing several projects. A friend of mine in that first improv class used to joke, “someday they will give us keys to this place…” His joke became a reality when I joined IB’s improv training program as an instructor.

Now, several years later I’ve turned in my keys, moved to a new city, and become an improv 101 student again! I’m enrolled in classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in LA and performing this Saturday 11/13 at 5:30pm, UCBLA, Franklin Ave, Los Angeles. ($5 cash at the door.)

I cannot say enough about how rewarding my experiences studying, performing, and teaching improv have been, or quantify the profound and positive impact these experiences have had on my singing and teaching. For more information on improv classes and shows at the UCB, visit ucbtheatre.com.

Also worth mentioning is that I offer a discount on voice lessons to members of the UCB community — students, teachers and performers — $50 for a first hour-long lesson ($10 discount).

La La La Land

Just a few short weeks after arriving in LA, I have joined the Music Together teaching staff at Sunshine Music and Dragonfly DuLou, where I have also been recruited to teach youth improv classes beginning this Fall. With any luck finding voice students and singing work will follow suit. As a musician I enjoy the best of both worlds, working as a classical singer while also branching out into contemporary music genres. Although my roots are in opera, art song, and musical theatre, I’m always looking for new musical projects.

Music Together

I recently completed my Music Together^® Teacher Training in NYC and I’m thrilled to join the team of educators/advocates for this fantastic program. Music Together is a research-based and internationally recognized early childhood music program based on the philosophy that all children are inherently musical–they can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment fosters such learning.

I found the training to be rigorous, informative, and inspiring. I’m particularly excited about Music Together’s immersive approach to teaching music, emphasis on engaging both adults and children, and adaptability to the each teachers’ musical strengths and creativity. I know that I will make a great Music Together teacher, able to draw from my experiences as an educator, musician/singer, and improviser. I am currently pursuing Music Together teaching opportunities in Los Angeles, CA, my new home in just over a month.

Solo Recital

Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 7:00pm, I will be performing a solo voice recital at Longy School of Music in Recital Room N-1. Admission is free and all are welcome! Please save the date!

I couldn’t be more excited about the program which includes the Blue Mountain Ballads by Paul Bowles, Cabaret Songs by William Bolcom, and music theater classics by Gershwin, Weill, Rodgers, and Porter. Accompanied by William Merrill on piano.
